TEZU

      Another blessed sand on the north east of India, it is even  said to be the Kashmir of the east. The place is filled with nature’s beauty and joy everywhere, the sparsely situated wooden horses on the hilly greeny region visualizes beauty to the land and the inhabitants of Missmi tribal and their colourful living adds charm to the town. These Missmi tribal are said to be the ancient descendents of Parasuram.
     This place has numerous Shiva temples and Buddhist Monasteries. The special products are the top hats made of cane. Tourists find gateways to trek, river raft, angle and picnic near the banks of river Lohit.
     To reach here, Dibrugarh in Assam should be the nearest airport and Tinsukia is the nearest rail route and by bus you drive from Guwahati to Tinsukia and thence to Tezu.

Pasuramkunda

      To the direction of north east Tezu, this place is situated at 20km distance. This spot is known as holy place` Kunda’, its size is 70ft long and 30ft wide. Here, the history behind this locale tells about a love affair of Amogha the wife of Saint Santanu and Prajapati Brahma and therefore as ‘kunda’.
     Whereas, the Kolika Purana, tells us a different story of the ancient happenings it is said that Renuka, the wife of the sage Jamdagni had an lustic affair to the Kshtri ya king Chitrarath, wherefore, the hidden affair came out to `News’, so, Jamdagni ordered his son Bhargava to kill his mother with his axe, in order to inflict sacred punishment and then to take bath in the `kunda’, which symbolizes a relief out of committed sin. Since, then, this ritual is followed here on Makar Sankriti Mela which is held annually at the `kunda’. People still follow the ethics to get rid off sins. But to those where parents are alive cannot participate in the event. Today! There is no such ‘kunda’ is existing here, during an earthquake it has been demolished, but there is a Temple of Parasuram till date.
     To reach here, the nearest airport is Disrugarh 140km, Mohanbari 148km. Tinsukia is the nearest rail head to alight. By road from Tinsukia you can reach to this spot of serenity.
