It is the district headquarters situated at height of 1,000 meters. This is another hilly region filled natural scenery scenario everywhere, everyday. According to tourist visit, very few people make an attempt to visit here. Perhaps, where there is beauty there should be risk is what reality...! To reach here, one hast to sail a kilometre boat ride along the paradise lake at Selatop with ice floating or glacier on the surface. Trout Hatchery is also there at Nuramang. Moreover, the threatening eyes of Chamri cow and yaks that stores the trespassers adds more shiver to the cold.
Inspite, these risks, if one can move on, he/she finally reaches a wonderland on earth, at Sela there is a shiva temple and a Buddhist Monastery which ages 350 years, which is called as Gumpha [Gompa]. It is a complex of 65 buildings. To spell a few, the craft centre known for its fine woollen works and carpet designs, The Gelu Pa or holy place of Mahayan sect of Buddhist was built at an area of 135 sq.km in the periods of 1643-47 by Mera Lama. Then the famous idol of Lord Buddha made of gold which is 26 ft tall, its library that contains Buddhist literature is enchanting. Moreover, it is said that the 6th Lama was born here. Such, enchanting spiritual location on earth is to be visited. During the months of November to March the place goes down to snow freezing point. Wherein, during the month of January will be the term of celebration in Dance, Art and Culture of festive seasons, while lamas stage their folk dances with colourful masks on them. To maintain body heat, the advisable food, is yak meat or Samba and the local drink named Chhang.
The nearest airport is Tezpur and by Rail Arunachal express is upto Rangapara. By road one has to take state transport or private towels from Bondila.
